Most people travel on vacation to forget about responsibility and to have a good time. With such busy lives and stressful day-to-day occurrence, it’s no wonder that we want to get away from it all. For many, Australia presents an opportunity to venture out of the traditional while not being immersed in a completely foreign experience. Even though such trips are about fun and relaxation, some responsibility is required.

You don’t want to forget necessary items that will ensure a better, safer and more quality vacation. It’s easy to forget about little things when going on vacation, which is why we’re here to remind you! When planning a trip to Australia, don’t forget the following four must-have but often forgotten items you’ll need to enjoy yourself.

Australia is known for a lot of things, including its intense climate and weather. Especially during the summer months, the heat, humidity and sun can all mix together to create an unforgivable climate. If you’re heading to Australia, then you absolutely need to remember to pack bug repellent and sunscreen!

The intense heat and sun in Australia is stronger than in many other places in the world, which means that skin protection should be a number one priority. Being outdoors in the Australian weather for one week can be equivalent to a year of sun exposure in cooler climates and under traditional circumstances, so be sure to look for sunscreen with an SPF rating of 30 to 45.

Bug Repellent

In addition, the bugs and insects in Australia can also be quite unforgiving. Mosquitoes, ants and other creatures are often more numerous and fierce than they are in North America and Europe. You don’t want to be caught off-guard! Insects can also carry a variety of irritants that you might not be exposed to in your native climate, so there is no reason to take any chances.

Be sure to pack a reliable bug repellent, rather than waiting to get there and having to purchase it. Almost everything costs more in Australia, so you’ll be grateful to have purchased this necessary item before arriving.

For the very same reasons that sunscreen is a good idea, sunglasses are also. The UV rays in Australia are more intense during the summer, which means that your eyes are in danger of being damaged without proper protection. By picking up a pair of Ray Bans or comparable sunglasses before you go, you’ll be sure to have proper protection for your eyes – as well as avoiding higher Australian prices for comparable eye wear.

A good investment for sure, UV resistant sunglasses like the ones mentioned above can last for years – even decades – when taken care of, so don’t think about it as merely something you’ll use when in Australia!

Smaller items are easier to forget when planning for a vacation. We often think of fun things to take with us, as well as items that seem unforgettable and absolutely necessary.

When visiting Australia, keeping yourself protected from the sun, the elements and the critters that roam the country is more important than you think. Now you’ll be sure to include these three items when traveling to Australia – or anywhere else.
